Well, it’s been one hell of a ride, but the twelve-month-long self-congratulatory ceremony that is the Oscar campaign is almost over. The winners of the 83rd Academy Awards will be revealed Sunday night in Los Angeles (Monday morning in Australia), at a ceremony hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway. But no need to shed a tear! Campaigning for the 84th Academy Awards will begin the very next day!

In the below predictions, I have followed my heart and offered the most love to my favourite film of the year – The Social Network – because, well, deep down I just really want the Academy to recognise the very best picture of the year, not just the one that made them feel the nicest. I’ve bet against a couple of other favourites (see: Best Supporting Actress, Best Foreign Language Films), but I’m not completely crazy; some categories really are in the bag (see: Best Actor).
Check them out, if only to use against me on Monday afternoon when I’ll have been made a fool of by the actual winners.
