>The King’s Speech is on track to take home the big awards at this month’s Oscar ceremony following its coronation at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The film picked up Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and star Colin Firth nabbed Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Along with its two other guild victories at the PGA and DGA awards, it looks like the majority of Academy Award voters love The King’s Speech. Although it hardly needs to be said that winners of the SAGs occasionally differ from the Academy, it should be noted that The King’s Speech dominance at all three ceremonies make it a near-certainty for Best Picture at the Oscars.

A few other Oscar favourites solidified their position with SAG wins, including Natalie Portman, who picked up Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Leading Role for Black Swan. The Fighter‘s two supporting performances by Christian Bale and Melissa Leo were also recognised.

Inception picked up Best Stunt Ensemble.

Over in the television categories, Boardwalk Empire picked up Outstanding Drama Ensemble and Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series for Steve Buscemi. Julianna Marguilies was named Outstanding Female Actress in a Drama Series for The Good Wife. Modern Family won Outstanding Comedy Ensemble, while Alec Baldwin was named Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series for 30 Rock, and Betty White picked up her first SAG as Outstanding Female Actress in a Comedy Series for Hot in Cleveland.

Discuss: Can any film dethrone The King’s Speech at the Oscars?
